Report of using the Yokoi vinegar brewing’s Mirin-like seasoning and vinegar

YOKOI VINEGAR BREWING CO.,LTD got HALAL certification last Nov.2015.

This company is one of the traditional vinegar brewing companies in Tokyo, and has been featured in magazines.

I had an opportunity to meet the manager of Yokoi and he gave me sample products♪

The following products that got the HALAL certification:

1) pure rice vinegar

2) pure apple vinegar

3) YMF-30 (sushi vinegar)

4) Mirin-like seasoning (Nikiri)

It was my first time to use Mirin-like seasoning, so I decided to cook  “Buridaikon (Yellowtail Japanese radish)” also known as simmered radish and yellowtail which is considered as a seasonal fish during winter time.

This Yokoi’s mirin-like seasoning is alcohol-free and it really tastes like authentic mirin !

It’s very appealing when it comes to texture and presentation, it smells good and it tastes sweet.

Next, I tried to make ”homemade pickles” with the use of apple vinegar.

Some people can’t take the acidity of vinegar but in this case, the apple vinegar that I’ve used is not too strong.

My youngest daughter likes sour food, so she was overjoyed when she tried the pickles for the very first time!
I punched vegetables to various shape, so children can eat happily.

A teacher at mosque told me that,
“Even thought vinegar which are sold in the supermarket, It’s ok if you choose alcohol additive-free one”.
But I heard some Muslim are anxious about the alcohol component of natural fermentation.

Now it’s sold only in large capacity for business.
But the manufacture said they consider the commercialization for individuals in the future!

I hope the small package vinegar will release sooner and Muslim living in Japan can have peace of mind.
