Seek halal

Since I am not Muslim, I might not understand real halal.
Now, do Muslims understand halal perfectly?

“We shall conduct halal study session, could you join it?”

This is the word from a male university student of Universitas Gadgah Bada, in Yogyakarta, old capital of Indonesia.
I took a lecture regarding halal fad in Japan, when I visited at the beginning of November.
Regardless of special lecture which is not subject to credit recognition, approx 70 Muslim students attend it.
4th grade students whose majors are food science were mainly.

I thought that they know halal well and I mentioned to specified health food in the 1st half of a lecture.
In the 2nd half, I talked regarding halal fad in Japan and distributed the questionaire sheet, I received answers as for “necessary halal elements if you travel to Japan”.
When they answered, the class time for 90 minutes was finished.
When students filled in a quaetionaire sheets, they went out of a classroom.

However, approx 10 students looked at me and seeked for a timing to talk with me.
(It is like Japanese sense~)
One of a few students who came close to me asked me the below words.
“I wanted to hear halal food more.”
“I wanted to discuss about halal.”

What is halal?

It was the moment to think of what you seek is a religion probably.
I need to learn more and more.

That let me think so.
